Honor local veterans at 2015 Veterans Stand Down – September 11

On Friday, September 11, at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum,Veterans Stand Down is honoring and supporting local veterans who may have fallen upon hard times. The annual one-day event helps men and women who have served in the armed forces access essential health and employment services, and connect to the local, state and federal support systems available to them.

As a community-led partnership combining local nonprofits, government officials, corporations, and veterans themselves, the Stand Down offers veterans services, information and supplies that can help them rebuild their lives.

Last year’s event attracted more than 325 at risk veterans and their families from the four counties area. With the support of corporate sponsors, we’re hoping to assist more than 400 at this year’s gathering.

If your organization is willing to step forward to help honor and support veterans, please contact Alex Glover, Veterans Services Director at Transition Projects, at 503.280.4673 or by email at aglover@tprojects.org. Together, we can help Portland end veteran homelessness.
