Portland City Council approves joining the Joint Terrorism Task Force – February 19

Thursday February 19, 2015:

The Portland City Council voted 3 – 2 to assign two Portland Police Bureau (PPB) officers to the Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF). Mayor Charlie Hales joined Commissioners Dan Saltzman and Nick Fish in voting to allow PPB officers to participate in the JTTF. PPB officers will join other regional law enforcement partners involved in the JTTF.

Citizens Crime Commission Chair Bill Barr, recognized the leadership of Mayor Hales, Commissioner Saltzman and Commissioner Fish in prioritizing public safety and the efficacy of JTTF collaborative teams. “We believe the participation by Portland Police officers in this effort will strengthen the team and provide the local knowledge and expertise so critical to effectively detect, deter and respond to terrorism threats in our community.”
